Vanity Fun, released in 1982 as set 5810-1, belongs to the Fabuland line, a unique transitional series produced by the Lego Group between 1979 and 1989. Designed to bridge the gap between building sets and character-driven roleplay, the theme featured anthropomorphic animal figures with expressive, molded heads. Vanity Fun specifically introduced a character named Bonnie Bunny, centered around a whimsical, domestic aesthetic that emphasized narrative play over the complex mechanical construction typical of the era.

The design of the Fabuland figures was spearheaded by the Lego design team to appeal to younger children through standardized, oversized parts and vibrant color palettes. By incorporating larger, more distinct pieces, the series aimed to create a more accessible building experience.
