Where it came from
Released in 2020 as part of the Lego Originals series, the Wooden Minifigure (5007523-1) was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the classic Lego minifigure. Crafted from FSC-certified oak with adjustable plastic hands, the piece serves as a tribute to the humble beginnings of the iconic character design. It is intentionally oversized, standing approximately 20 centimeters tall, and was marketed as a blank canvas for customization and creative expression.
The design draws inspiration from the original 1978 minifigure, maintaining the simple, recognizable silhouette while elevating the materials to artisanal standards. The product was developed in collaboration with Room Copenhagen and received significant attention from design enthusiasts and long-term collectors. It was intended to bridge the gap between a simple children's toy and a sophisticated home decor piece, highlighting the evolution of Lego's aesthetic influence on modern industrial design.
