Where it came from
Released in 2020 as part of the LEGO Originals line, this set features a scaled-up version of the iconic LEGO minifigure crafted primarily from FSC-certified oak wood. It was created to celebrate the history of the company's design language, moving away from plastic to offer a premium, sculptural take on the toy that first debuted in 1978. The figure stands approximately 26 centimeters tall and includes adjustable plastic hands, bridging the gap between a traditional plaything and a collectible art piece.
The design was intended to highlight the craftsmanship behind the brand, inviting owners to customize their piece with paint, decals, or accessories. By returning to wood, which was the original material used by LEGO founder Ole Kirk Christiansen in the early 20th century, the set serves as a nostalgic tribute to the company’s roots. It was well-received by design enthusiasts and long-term fans for its minimalist aesthetic, though it occupies a distinct niche separate from standard modular building sets.
