Where it came from
Released in 2007 as a promotional set, the Wu vs. Skulkin item predates the official 2011 launch of the Ninjago theme. It serves as a precursor to the elaborate narrative world that would later define the series, acting as a small-scale conceptual introduction to the conflict between the venerable Master Wu and the skeletal forces of the underworld.
The design of this set reflects the early aesthetic explorations of the Ninjago concept, utilizing a minimalist approach to pit the two central archetypes against one another. While it lacks the intricate builds of later waves, it is significant for established collectors as one of the earliest physical artifacts produced under the nascent Ninjago creative banner, illustrating the initial vision for the theme's core dynamic.
