Where it came from
Released in 2021 as part of the LEGO Ninjago theme's fourteenth season, titled The Island, this set features a brick-built dragon designed to accompany the Master Wu minifigure. The design reflects the high-fantasy aesthetic of the theme, utilizing a mix of white, gold, and tan elements to evoke the traditional, wise persona of the character. It was intended as a compact, play-oriented set that highlights the agility and grace associated with Wu within the Ninjago lore.
The set was conceived by the LEGO design team to provide fans with a dedicated vehicle for Master Wu, a character who is traditionally seen on foot or in larger collective vessels. By emphasizing a smaller, more maneuverable dragon build, the designers aimed to complement the jungle-themed setting of the season. Upon release, the set was noted by the building community for its effective use of pieces to create an articulated creature, serving as a distinct addition to the expansive roster of dragon builds found throughout the long-running Ninjago series.
