Where it came from
Archimedes, card number 58 from the Hyperia City set, emerged during the late-nineties trading card boom that focused on neo-noir and cyberpunk aesthetics. Produced as part of a thematic expansion exploring a fictional metropolis, the character design reflects the era's fascination with steampunk-infused futuristic archetypes, portraying a scholar-engineer who serves as an information broker within the game's narrative lore.
The character illustration was crafted to lean into high-contrast chiaroscuro techniques, aiming to ground the fantastical setting in a gritty, grounded reality. Upon its release, the card gained a modest but dedicated following among players who valued its complex utility in gameplay strategies, ultimately becoming a recognizable staple of the Hyperia City collection due to its distinct visual style and relative scarcity.
