Where it came from
Chicha, card number 5 in the Shimmering Skies expansion of the Disney Lorcana trading card game, was released in 2024 to expand the strategic depth of the game's Ruby ink archetype. As a character card derived from Disney's The Emperor's New Groove, this depiction focuses on the character's role as a grounded, maternal figure, offering players a defensive utility that mirrors the protective nature she displays in the source film.
The card features an illustration commissioned to align with the game's vibrant, painterly aesthetic that defines the Shimmering Skies set. The design team sought to capture Chicha's warmth and strength, balancing the specific art style of the franchise with the mechanical requirements of the Lorcana trading card system. Upon release, the special rarity variant became a sought-after piece for collectors due to its distinct foil treatment and the nostalgic appeal of the film's character set.
