Where it came from
The Mickey Mouse - Detective card debuted in 2023 as part of Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter, the inaugural release of the trading card game developed by Ravensburger. This set was designed to bridge the gap between traditional collectible card gaming and Disney’s vast intellectual property, introducing a unique resource system known as ink. The card serves as a thematic cornerstone, grounding the new medium in the iconic legacy of the studio’s most recognizable character.
The card features artwork by illustrator Kristin Salisbury, who rendered Mickey in a classic investigative aesthetic reminiscent of mid-century animation shorts. Within the game's mechanics, the character is classified as a Special rarity, reflecting its status as a sought-after piece for players and collectors alike. Upon the game's release, the art style was praised for maintaining the traditional charm of the character while adapting him to the vibrant, high-fantasy art direction established for the Lorcana universe.
