Mushu

Mushu (12/204) was released as part of the debut set for the Disney Lorcana trading card game, titled The First Chapter. The card was designed to capture the spirited nature of the character from the 1998 animated film Mulan, positioning him as a utility-focused character within the Ruby ink classification. The set was developed by Ravensburger to bridge the gap between traditional collectible card game mechanics and Disney’s extensive animation legacy, with the card art focusing on vibrant, modern illustrative techniques that emphasize Mushu's role as a self-proclaimed dragon guardian.

The reception of this specific card was largely shaped by its utility in competitive play, where its ability to deal direct damage upon entering the board made it a staple for deck builders. As a special rarity card, it serves as a representative example of the game's initial release strategy, which balanced character appeal with strategic depth. The design team sought to reflect the character's impulsive personality through his card text, ensuring that the gameplay experience aligned with his portrayal in the source material.
