Where it came from
Abundant Growth was originally released in the 2012 set Avacyn Restored, designed as a common-rarity aura to facilitate mana fixing and card cycling in the limited environment. The card represents the theme of agricultural rebirth following the oppressive atmosphere of Innistrad, mechanically allowing players to tap enchanted lands for any color of mana while simultaneously drawing a card to replace itself.
The artwork, illustrated by Aleksi Briclot, emphasizes the vibrant, surreal nature of the magic inherent in the setting, moving away from the gloom of the previous expansion to highlight a blossoming of life. Its inclusion in The List—a curated collection of reprints appearing in Set Boosters—serves as a nod to its enduring utility in casual formats like Commander, where its low mana cost and versatility remain consistently valued by players.
