Act of Heroism

Act of Heroism was originally printed as a common white instant in the Magic: The Gathering set Masters 25, released in March 2018. The set was designed as a nostalgic celebration of the game's twenty-five-year history, featuring cards curated from every major expansion since the game's 1993 debut. This specific iteration sought to balance functional gameplay within a draft environment while honoring the thematic motifs of selfless combat prevalent in early sets.

The card features illustration by Igor Kieryluk, an artist who has contributed extensively to the game’s visual identity. His design for this piece captures the quintessential heroic fantasy aesthetic, emphasizing dynamic motion and the dramatic intervention of a protector in battle. Upon its release in Masters 25, the card was received as a straightforward utility spell, appreciated by players for its role in limited play formats where pump spells frequently dictate the tempo of combat.
