Aeon Chronicler

Aeon Chronicler was originally printed in the Planar Chaos set in 2007 before being reprinted in the Commander 2016 supplemental release as part of the Breed Lethality deck. The card is designed with the suspend mechanic, a central feature of the Time Spiral block that allowed players to cast powerful spells for a reduced cost over several turns. This version features illustration by Aleksi Briclot, who utilized a ethereal, time-distorted aesthetic to emphasize the creature's ability to draw cards based on time counters.

Upon its introduction to the game, the card was received as a versatile tool for control-oriented strategies, particularly in formats where the ability to maintain hand size in the late game is highly valued. The Commander 2016 printing maintained the original mechanical identity while fitting into the specific theme of the +1/+1 counter-focused preconstructed deck. Its design remains a textbook example of how Wizards of the Coast balances high-mana utility with interactive gameplay mechanics.
