Where it came from
Aerie Auxiliary was released in 2024 as part of the Modern Horizons 3 set for Magic: The Gathering. This set was designed specifically for the Modern format, introducing powerful, high-complexity cards that bypass the standard legality constraints of the main expansion releases. The card serves as a representative of the set's focus on synergistic mechanics, particularly those centered around token generation and the interaction between creatures and equipment.
The artwork for Aerie Auxiliary was commissioned to capture the ethereal and strategic nature of aerial combat within the game's multiverse. Like many cards in the Modern Horizons series, the design aims to offer utility for competitive deck builders while maintaining the visual narrative style established by Wizards of the Coast. It was received as a functional addition to white-aligned support cards, appreciated by players for its ability to bolster creature boards in limited and constructed environments.
