Ajani, Caller of the Pride

Ajani, Caller of the Pride was released as a mythic rare planeswalker in the Magic 2014 core set, which debuted in July 2013. The card serves as a representative for the Ajani Goldmane character, a recurring protagonist in the Magic: The Gathering multiverse known for his strength and tactical combat prowess. This specific printing was designed to highlight the planeswalker's abilities in aggressive deck archetypes, focusing on creature buffs and board control through his iconic third ability.

The artwork for this version was provided by D. Alexander Gregory, who rendered the character with a sense of imposing, predatory grace. The design was received by the player base as a potent tool for 'White Weenie' strategies, though it invited comparisons to previous, more dominant planeswalker iterations. It remains a hallmark of the Magic 2014 set, reflecting the era's focus on refining planeswalker power levels to ensure dynamic gameplay across the Standard format.
