Where it came from
The Alien Invasion card, numbered 417, was released as part of the 1990 Marvel Super Heroes trading card set produced by Impel. This series arrived during a period of peak interest in comic book collectibles, aiming to capture the expansive lore of the Marvel Universe by featuring key storylines, character profiles, and milestone events in a high-gloss, accessible format for a growing base of young enthusiasts.
The design of this set prioritized visual impact, utilizing iconic comic book illustrations that highlighted dramatic confrontations and character rosters. Alien Invasion served as an entry in the 'Events' or 'Storylines' segment of the collection, designed to provide context for the various intergalactic conflicts that frequently shaped the Marvel landscape, and it remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors who grew up with the proliferation of Marvel merchandise in the early 1990s.
