Where it came from
Avengers: Under Siege, numbered 205 in the Marvel Super Heroes card set, was released in the mid-1990s as part of the trading card boom that dominated the comic book industry. The card depicts a classic narrative arc from the Avengers comics, specifically highlighting the iconic storyline written by Roger Stern in 1986, where the Masters of Evil launch a devastating, systematic assault on Avengers Mansion.
The artwork chosen for this set aimed to distill decades of complex Marvel history into accessible, high-impact visuals for collectors. By focusing on dramatic, pivotal moments like the Siege, the design team emphasized the gravity of the Marvel Universe's conflicts. The card was well-received by fans of the era for its ability to summarize a dense, high-stakes plotline into a single, collectible format, serving as both a memento of the story and a piece of visual history.
