Lore

Why it matters

Ambuscade represents a foundational utility card that allows players to bridge the gap between their creatures and those controlled by an opponent. By enabling a creature to deal damage based on its own power, this common card provides a reliable way to remove threats from the board while maintaining board presence.

Provenance

Where it came from

Ambuscade was originally introduced in the Hour of Devastation expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2017. Mechanically, it serves as a green sorcery that allows a creature you control to deal damage equal to its power to a creature you do not control, solidifying its place as a functional removal spell within the game's color pie.

The Double Masters 2022 iteration, marked as collector number 133, features artwork by illustrator Anna Steinbauer. As part of a set designed to showcase powerful reprints and fan-favorite cards, this version utilizes the sleek, modern framing common to the set's aesthetic, which focuses on high-utility cards often sought after by players looking to bolster their decks for competitive or limited formats.
