Provenance

Where it came from

Apprentice Wizard was originally printed in the 1994 set Antiquities, capturing the high-fantasy aesthetic of early Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed to reflect the theme of Artificers and Urza’s legacy, providing players with a utility creature capable of converting mana to support artifact-heavy strategies during the game's formative years.

The Double Masters printing, released in 2020, serves as a premium iteration of this classic card. This set was curated to highlight influential and iconic cards from throughout the game's history, featuring updated, high-fidelity frame treatments and artwork that honors the original conceptual intent of the card as a staple of magical apprenticeship.
