What it does
Whenever you planeswalk here and at the beginning of your upkeep, exile the top card of your library. You may play that card this turn.
Whenever Chaos ensues, exile the top six cards of your library. An opponent or player outside the game chooses a nonland card with their favorite art. Then you may cast that spell without paying its mana cost.

Where it came from
The Artist Alley card from the Black Lotus Unknown Planechase set, numbered PLA001, represents a specialized promotional release within the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem. Planechase is a variant format designed to introduce shifting environments into standard gameplay, and this specific card serves as a thematic tribute to the creative contributors who shape the visual language of the game. It was conceived to celebrate the communal and creative spirit of the Magic artist community, functioning as an homage to the physical spaces where creators and fans interact.
The design of PLA001 focuses on capturing the atmosphere of a convention artist alley, utilizing stylized, illustrative techniques common to the game’s aesthetic. By depicting the environment itself as a game location, the developers aimed to bridge the gap between the player's experience and the professional world of illustration. While the set is unconventional and limited in distribution, it is highly regarded by collectors for its meta-commentary on the game's production history and its departure from traditional combat-focused card mechanics.
