Where it came from
The Assassin Gauntlet card originates from the Magic: The Gathering 'Universes Beyond' expansion featuring the Assassin’s Creed franchise, released in 2024. Designed to integrate the iconic hidden blade mechanic into the game's tabletop format, the item serves as an equipment card that mirrors the tactical stealth and lethality of the video game series. It was developed to evoke the aesthetic of the brotherhood’s signature weaponry while maintaining the mechanical balance required for competitive play.
The artwork and conceptual design for the card were crafted to reflect the historical and technological blend synonymous with the franchise's overarching narrative. By focusing on the intricate craftsmanship of the hidden blade, the illustrators aimed to capture the essence of the series' transition from stealth-action mechanics to collectible card game representation. The card received attention for its functional design, which allows players to equip legendary characters with the signature armament, effectively bridging the lore of the games with the strategy of the trading card game.
