Where it came from
Audience with Trostani was released in 2024 as part of the Murders at Karlov Manor set for Magic: The Gathering. The card draws its thematic inspiration from the Selesnya Conclave on the plane of Ravnica, featuring the triumvirate leader Trostani in a setting that reflects the set's murder-mystery aesthetic. It was designed to function within the mechanics of the expansion, emphasizing the guild's focus on creature tokens and board presence.
The illustration was rendered by artist Magali Villeneuve, a prominent contributor to the game known for her expressive, high-fantasy style. Her design work focuses on capturing the ethereal yet imposing nature of Trostani while maintaining the visual language established by previous iterations of the character. Upon release, the card was noted for its utility in limited formats and its contribution to the ongoing narrative of Ravnica's political instability.
