Where it came from
The Azorius Locket was originally released as part of the Guilds of Ravnica set in 2018, designed to represent the administrative and legalistic nature of the Azorius Senate. These artifacts were created as mana-generating tools intended to help players transition into the late game, reflecting the guild's focus on control and law-making. The version found in the Crimson Vow Commander set serves as a thematic reprint, allowing players to incorporate these reliable mana-fixing pieces into broader deck strategies outside of the Ravnica plane.
The art and design of the Locket emphasize the clean, structured aesthetics associated with the Azorius guild, featuring the iconic scales of judgment. While the original release highlighted the bureaucratic power of Ravnica, the Crimson Vow Commander iteration provides a consistent utility option for multi-colored decks. It is widely regarded in the Commander community as a functional, accessible staple that bridges the gap between early-game setup and high-cost spells.
