Beast Within

Beast Within is a staple card in Magic: The Gathering, first appearing in the New Phyrexia set in 2011 as a versatile removal spell that trades a powerful permanent for a 3/3 Beast token. This specific iteration originates from The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander series, released in 2023. The illustration was provided by Jesper Ejsing, a longtime contributor to the game known for his dynamic, painterly style. For this version, Ejsing sought to capture the untamed, subterranean wildness of the Ixalan setting, emphasizing the primal and unpredictable nature of the transformation effect while maintaining the visual cohesion of the product line.
