Beledros Witherbloom was released as part of the Strixhaven Art Series in 2021, a collection designed to showcase the intricate fantasy illustrations featured in the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion for Magic: The Gathering. These cards are distinct from standard gameplay cards, as they feature a full-art, borderless treatment on the front and a gold-stamped artist signature on the back, shifting the focus from mechanical utility to the aesthetic appreciation of the artwork.

The illustration was created by artist Jesper Ejsing, who was tasked with visualizing the Elder Dragon of the Witherbloom college, known for its connection to the essence of life and death. Ejsing focused on blending organic, overgrown botanical elements with the imposing draconic anatomy, using deep greens and earthen tones to reflect the college's nature-magic identity. The card has been well-regarded by collectors for its immersive composition and the high-quality print finish characteristic of the Art Series sub-set.
