Berta, Wise Extrapolator

Berta, Wise Extrapolator was released as part of the Secrets of Strixhaven subset within the broader Magic: The Gathering ecosystem. The card emerged from the aesthetic and narrative framework of Strixhaven University, a multiversal setting characterized by scholarly pursuit, arcane study, and the distinct collegiate factions of the plane. This specific card was designed to embody the intellectual archetype of the university, focusing on mechanics that reward strategic planning and the logical extrapolation of available resources during gameplay.

The visual design of Berta was crafted to reflect the high-fantasy academic atmosphere synonymous with the set, utilizing a palette and illustrative style consistent with the institution's prestigious, somewhat esoteric character. Upon its introduction, the card was integrated into the established competitive landscape, valued by players for its utility in deck archetypes that emphasize card advantage and long-term resource management. Its reception was largely defined by its performance in formats where incremental value generation is considered a central pillar of successful strategy.
