Provenance

Where it came from

The Black Cat, Cunning Thief card originates from the Marvel's Spider-Man trading card set, designed to highlight the rogues' gallery and supporting cast of the Spider-Man universe. This specific card focuses on Felicia Hardy, a character created by Marv Wolfman and Keith Pollard, known for her complex moral alignment and recurring role as a foil to Spider-Man. The set was produced to appeal to both comic book enthusiasts and collectors of Marvel-themed merchandise, utilizing artwork that reflects the character's sleek, acrobatic aesthetic and her status as a master burglar.

The design of the card emphasizes the stealth and agility that define the Black Cat's visual identity. The artistic approach seeks to capture her enigmatic nature, balancing her signature black costume with high-contrast elements that distinguish her from other characters in the series. Upon its release, the card was received as a standard but essential inclusion for fans of the Spider-Man franchise, recognized primarily for its faithful portrayal of Hardy’s classic look and its contribution to the overall narrative scope of the card series.
