Bogstomper

Bogstomper was introduced in the Core Set 2019 expansion for Magic: The Gathering, released by Wizards of the Coast in July 2018. This set was designed to serve as a foundational entry point for new players, featuring a blend of reprinted classics and new cards intended to establish a stable and approachable gameplay environment. As a common creature, the Bogstomper was crafted to fill a functional role in Limited formats, providing a sturdy, aggressive presence for black-aligned decks while adhering to the core mechanical themes of the set.

The card’s artwork was illustrated by Jason Felix, who utilized a dark, swampy aesthetic to emphasize the creature's status as a formidable inhabitant of the marshlands. His design focuses on a towering, hulking beast that conveys the imposing nature of the card's combat statistics. Upon its release, the card was received as a standard utility piece, appreciated by players for its straightforward design and its effectiveness as a reliable, mid-game threat in the draft and sealed environments that defined the Core Set 2019 experience.
