Provenance

Where it came from

Bone Saw was released in early 2016 as part of the Oath of the Gatewatch set, the second expansion in the Battle for Zendikar block for Magic: The Gathering. This artifact reflects the set's focus on the desperate, post-apocalyptic struggle of the plane of Zendikar against the invading Eldrazi titans, where ordinary survivors were forced to repurpose scavenged tools into weapons for survival.

The card was illustrated by long-time Magic contributor Kev Walker. True to Walker's signature style, the artwork emphasizes a gritty, utilitarian aesthetic, highlighting the brutal nature of the instrument. As a common-rarity equipment card, it was designed primarily to serve as a low-cost, repeatable effect for limited play environments, finding its place as a functional piece of equipment in aggressive deck strategies.
