Brightclimb Pathway // Grimclimb Pathway

Brightclimb Pathway // Grimclimb Pathway was originally introduced in the Zendikar Rising expansion for Magic: The Gathering, featuring a flexible, double-sided design that allows players to choose which color of mana the land produces upon entry. The card was later featured in the Secret Lair: Ultimate Edition, a premium box set released in 2020 designed to showcase a selection of iconic land cycles with unique, borderless artwork. This specific printing was intended as a collector's item, emphasizing the aesthetic evolution of land cards within the game.

The art for this version of the card was created by Magali Villeneuve, a prominent illustrator in the Magic: The Gathering community known for her evocative, painterly style. Villeneuve's design for the Pathway cycle focuses on the dramatic, shifting landscapes of the Zendikar plane, aiming to bridge the transition between the bright, celestial aspects of the card and its darker, more subterranean counterpart. The release was well-received by collectors who appreciated the cohesive, gallery-quality presentation of the series.
