Brightclimb Pathway // Brightclimb Pathway

Brightclimb Pathway was released in 2020 as part of the Zendikar Rising Art Series, a collection of cards featuring enlarged, borderless illustrations from the Zendikar Rising expansion set. These cards were designed to highlight the intricate world-building of Magic: The Gathering, specifically showcasing the unique topography of the Zendikar plane. By stripping away the traditional card frame, the series emphasizes the atmospheric landscape art, intended for display and appreciation by collectors rather than for competitive play.

The art for this specific piece was rendered by illustrator Jung Park, who is well known within the gaming community for his evocative, expansive environmental concepts. Park sought to capture the ethereal, dual-natured quality of the Pathway cycle, representing the transition between the plane's light-touched elevations and its shadowy depths. Upon release, the Art Series was well received by the community for providing a dedicated format to enjoy the high-quality digital painting that defines the modern era of the game.
