Broken Bond

Broken Bond was introduced as part of the Jumpstart 2022 set, a product line designed to facilitate a quick, shuffle-and-play experience for Magic: The Gathering players. Released to support the game's diverse ecosystem, the card functions as a sorcery that allows players to destroy an artifact or enchantment while simultaneously playing an additional land. It reflects the set's focus on synergistic gameplay, where simple, impactful effects help players ramp up their mana and disrupt opponents in high-variance, pick-up-and-play formats.

The card features artwork by illustrator Johannes Voss, whose work is highly regarded in the Magic community for its expressive use of light and color. In this piece, Voss captures the thematic essence of shattering restrictive magical shackles, aligning with the card's mechanical utility of removing obstacles. The illustration is widely appreciated for its clean composition and the dynamic sense of release it conveys, serving as a functional staple that balances aesthetic appeal with mechanical utility within the green color pie.
