Where it came from
Bucknard's Everfull Purse was introduced to the Magic: The Gathering card game in the 2021 Commander set based on the Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms expansion. In the lore of the Forgotten Realms, the purse is a wondrous item capable of magically producing coins, and its inclusion in the Commander set serves as a mechanical homage to this tabletop artifact, allowing players to generate treasure tokens during their turns.
The card features artwork by illustrator Johannes Voss, who utilized a warm, detailed style to capture the purse's whimsical and slightly chaotic nature. Within the game's design, it functions as a mana-ramping utility card, and upon its release, it was well-received by the Commander community for its thematic resonance and its utility in decks that benefit from frequent artifact interactions.
