Canopy Vista

Canopy Vista was originally designed as part of the Battle for Zendikar set, released in 2015 to represent the unique landscape of the plane of Zendikar. It belongs to a cycle of 'tango lands' or 'battle lands,' which were engineered to provide mana fixing in formats like Commander by interacting with the basic land types of a player's deck. The design intent was to reward players for running a high density of basic lands, creating a tactical decision point during the early stages of a game.

For the Wilds of Eldraine Commander set, the card was reprinted with new art by Adam Paquette to fit the whimsical, fairy-tale aesthetic of the Eldraine plane. Paquette, a veteran Magic: The Gathering illustrator, focused on capturing the vibrant, lush, and somewhat mysterious atmosphere characteristic of the Eldraine wilderness. The reception of these reprints has been largely positive among the player base, as they offer functional utility while providing thematic cohesion for players building decks specifically themed around Eldraine’s lore.
