Where it came from
Ajani's Chosen was originally released in the 2013 Magic: The Gathering set Magic 2014, designed as an uncommon creature that rewards players for focusing on the enchantment card type. The card functions by creating a 2/2 white Cat Soldier creature token every time an enchantment enters the battlefield under the player's control, reinforcing the white-aligned theme of divine or magical reinforcements manifesting through mystical pacts.
The version from the Wilds of Eldraine Commander set features the card in a frame consistent with modern reprints, maintaining its original mechanical identity. The illustration for the card, consistently credited to artist Aleksi Briclot across its printings, captures a feline warrior surrounded by magical energy, reflecting the character Ajani Goldmane's influence and the general aesthetic of enchantment-focused creatures in the game.
