Carnivorous Moss-Beast

Carnivorous Moss-Beast was originally released in the 2014 Magic: The Gathering core set, M15. It was designed as a quintessential green creature for the set's Limited environment, intended to demonstrate the straightforward, aggressive nature of the color. The design team focused on providing players with a sturdy, mid-to-late-game threat that rewarded mana ramp strategies, common in green deck archetypes of that era.

The card features artwork by the illustrator Volkan Baga, who rendered the creature with a focus on organic, swampy textures that evoke the untamed, predatory nature of deep forest growth. Upon its inclusion in 'The List'—a rotating selection of reprints curated by Wizards of the Coast for Set Boosters—the card gained a second life as a recurring legacy piece, allowing newer players to encounter classic creatures that defined the mechanical identity of the M15 expansion.
