Cat Beast

The Cat Beast token was introduced in the Commander Masters expansion set released by Wizards of the Coast in 2023. This set was designed to feature powerful cards and highly sought-after reprints specifically tailored for the Commander format, a popular multiplayer way to play Magic: The Gathering. As a token card, it serves as a physical representation of a permanent created by other cards during gameplay, specifically those that generate 2/2 Cat Beast creatures.

The artwork for this particular token follows the modern aesthetic standards established for Magic: The Gathering's supplementary products, focusing on clarity and thematic consistency. While token art is often a collaborative effort between the game's art directors and freelance digital illustrators, these designs aim to provide a clear visual shorthand for players during the rapid-fire decision-making of a Commander match. Upon its release, it was well-received by players who appreciate the high-quality, uniform art direction that defines the current era of the game.
