What it does
As an additional cost to cast this spell, you may choose a creature type and behold two creatures of that type.
Search your library for a creature card with mana value X or less, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle. If this spell's additional cost was paid and the revealed card is the chosen type, put that card onto the battlefield instead of putting it into your hand.

Where it came from
Celestial Reunion was released as part of the Lorwyn Eclipsed Promos, a special distribution of cards associated with the Magic: The Gathering Lorwyn block expansion. These cards were produced to generate buzz during the transition between the Lorwyn and Shadowmoor sets, serving as a teaser for the thematic shifts occurring in the game's multiverse at the time. The card reflects the vibrant, folkloric art direction characteristic of the Lorwyn plane, which drew heavy inspiration from Celtic and European mythology.
The card's design aims to capture the thematic essence of reconciliation and renewal central to the Lorwyn narrative. Illustrators involved in this block were tasked with crafting a whimsical yet slightly eerie aesthetic, balancing the high-fantasy cheer of the early sets with the darker, twilight atmosphere that defined the subsequent block. Upon release, these promotional cards were well-received by collectors for their unique aesthetic framing and their role as tangible artifacts of a pivotal storytelling moment in the game's history.
