Cephalid Coliseum

Cephalid Coliseum was originally printed in the Odyssey set in 2001, designed as a utility land that allows players to draw three cards at the cost of discarding three and sacrificing the land. Its mechanics reflect the aquatic, scholarly, and often treacherous nature of the Cephalids, an octopus-like species native to the plane of Otaria. The card was created to provide deck thinning and graveyard synergy, cementing its place as a staple in competitive formats like Legacy where graveyard interaction is frequent.

The Modern Horizons 3 printing features a distinctive borderless profile aesthetic, a design language established by Wizards of the Coast to modernize classic cards for contemporary collectors. This iteration highlights the haunting, surreal illustration style common to the set's aesthetic updates, intended to evoke a sense of ancient mystery. Modern Horizons 3 was specifically developed to inject powerful, nostalgic reprints into modern gameplay, and this specific collector number represents the refreshed artistic vision for a piece of Magic history.
