Champion of Lambholt

Champion of Lambholt first appeared in the 2012 set Avacyn Restored, designed as a green creature that grows in strength as other creatures enter the battlefield while simultaneously hindering the opponent's ability to block. This specific version was reprinted in 2018 for Commander Anthology Volume II, a curated collection intended to provide players with access to popular cards from previous Commander preconstructed decks. The design, illustrated by Svetlin Velinov, emphasizes the character's role as a protector within the lore of the plane of Innistrad, blending mechanical utility with the Gothic horror aesthetic central to the set.

The card was received favorably by the Magic: The Gathering community for its synergy in aggressive creature-heavy strategies, specifically within the Commander format. Its inclusion in the Anthology set was a strategic move by Wizards of the Coast to support players looking for key pieces to optimize their decks. The artistic direction by Velinov focused on dynamic movement and the heroic stature of the character, ensuring it remained a recognizable and sought-after asset among both players and collectors who value the game's expansive visual history.
