Chromatic Lantern

Chromatic Lantern was originally designed for the Magic: The Gathering set Return to Ravnica, released in 2012. It was created to solve a common mechanical problem in the game by allowing players to treat their lands as if they could produce any color of mana, thereby facilitating complex, multi-colored deck strategies. The card's design features art by Raoul Vitale, who rendered the object as a glowing, mystical artifact that fits seamlessly into the cityscape of the plane of Ravnica, a world defined by its multi-faction politics and varied magical energies.

As a staple of the Commander format, the card became highly sought after for its utility, leading Wizards of the Coast to include it in 'The List', a curated selection of reprints integrated into set boosters to offer players access to functional staples. Its inclusion as entry GRN-233 within this context serves as a nod to its reprint history in the Guilds of Ravnica era, maintaining its reputation as an essential piece for players looking to balance mana bases while highlighting the enduring popularity of the card's original aesthetic and mechanical intent.
