Provenance

Where it came from

The Civic Saber was originally printed in the Ravnica: City of Guilds set in 2005, designed as an uncommon equipment card to support the set's multicolor-focused mechanics. It was intended to reward players for building decks with varied mana bases, allowing creatures to scale in power based on the number of colors among permanents they control. The design reflects the sprawling, urban aesthetic of the plane of Ravnica, emphasizing the cooperative spirit of the guilds.

For the Ravnica Remastered set, released in 2024, the Civic Saber was brought back to capture the nostalgia of the original block. This reprint features updated card frames while maintaining the thematic utility of the equipment. It was well-received by fans of the Limited format who appreciate cards that offer strategic flexibility, reinforcing its status as a reliable utility artifact within the broader Ravnica card pool.
