Where it came from
Cloudreach Cavalry was released in 2003 as part of the Legions expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set was designed to focus heavily on creature cards, following the thematic lead of the previous Onslaught set. This card was conceptualized as a common-rarity creature that utilized the newly introduced 'morph' mechanic, allowing players to play it face-down as a colorless creature before flipping it over for a surprise aerial attack.
