Comet Storm

Comet Storm was originally released in the Worldwake expansion in 2010 and later reprinted with the collector number 411 in the Commander Legends set, which launched in 2020. This set was specifically designed for the Commander format, shifting the focus of the game toward multiplayer social play rather than traditional head-to-head dueling. The reprint allowed players to integrate a well-established red burn spell into the draft-style environment that Commander Legends introduced to the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem.

The card features an illustration by Dan Dos Santos, who captured the chaotic, celestial nature of the spell’s effect. Dos Santos aimed to convey a sense of overwhelming power and kinetic energy, aligning with the card's mechanical ability to target multiple opponents simultaneously. Since its debut, the card has been received as a staple finisher for red-heavy decks, praised for its flexibility and effectiveness in the late stages of a game.
