Commander's Plate // Commander's Plate

Commander's Plate was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Art Series, a limited-run collaboration celebrating the iconic franchise. The card functions as a functional reprint of an established artifact, originally introduced in Commander Legends to provide a mechanical edge to commanders by granting protection from all colors based on the commander's identity. This version was created to bridge the gap between high-level trading card game mechanics and nostalgic pop culture iconography.

The art was commissioned to align with the distinct aesthetic of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, focusing on the tactical and militaristic history of the character General Krang. The design team aimed to capture the essence of the character’s presence in the series, translating the metallic and formidable nature of the Commander's Plate into the visual language of the Foot Clan’s leadership. Upon release, the card was received as a sought-after collectible by both players seeking optimized deck builds and fans of the long-running animated series.
