Composite Golem

Composite Golem was originally introduced in the Invasion expansion set in 2000, designed as part of a cycle of artifacts that utilized the set's color-matters theme. It was later reprinted in the Tenth Edition core set in 2007, maintaining its role as a flexible mana-filtering utility creature. The card functions by allowing players to sacrifice it to generate five mana of any combination of colors, serving as a powerful tactical tool for ramping into late-game threats or fixing complex mana requirements.

The artwork for the Tenth Edition printing was illustrated by Mark Tedin, a veteran artist known for his surreal and mechanical aesthetic within the Magic: The Gathering universe. Tedin's depiction emphasizes the fragmented, cobbled-together nature of the construct, using sharp lines and industrial textures to convey its composite essence. Upon its release and subsequent reprints, the card was received primarily as a niche combo piece, valued by players for its unique ability to convert colorless resources into versatile mana output.
