Where it came from
Confront the Past was originally introduced in the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion in 2021, representing the academic and arcane focus of the set. The card depicts a moment of reflection and historical inquiry within the Strixhaven campus, designed to reflect the set's theme of magical study and the manipulation of time and history.
The artwork was created by illustrator Randy Vargas, who sought to capture the ethereal, scholarly atmosphere of the university. As part of The List, this card serves as a curated inclusion intended to provide players with access to past staples or thematic reprints, maintaining its identity as a functional piece of competitive gameplay rather than a narrative focal point.
