Conqueror's Flail

Conqueror's Flail was originally released in the Commander 2016 set as part of the Stalwart Unity deck. Designed for the multiplayer Commander format, the card was crafted to reward players for playing proactively during their own turn while discouraging opponents from interfering with their combat steps. Its inclusion in Double Masters 2022 as card number 557 marked a notable reappearance, featuring updated border treatments that aligned with the premium aesthetic of the Masters series.

The mechanical design focuses on the synergy between the equipped creature's power and the restriction of opponent spells. By preventing opponents from casting spells during the wearer's turn, the flail serves as a tactical tool for aggressive strategies looking to bypass reactive interaction. The illustration by Igor Kieryluk depicts the weapon with a sense of weight and intimidation, fitting the aggressive theme of the card. It is generally well-regarded among Commander players as a functional utility piece for voltron-style decks.
