Consecrated Sphinx

Consecrated Sphinx was originally released in the 2011 Magic: The Gathering set Mirrodin Besieged. It quickly gained notoriety in the competitive community as one of the most powerful card draw engines in the game's history, often considered a 'must-answer' threat in Commander formats. Its design intent was to reward players for the standard act of drawing cards, creating a high-value incentive that often resulted in a game-winning advantage for the controller.

This specific version, released as part of the Secret Lair series, features an alternative aesthetic that deviates from the original art. Like many entries in the Secret Lair collection, it was produced as a premium, limited-availability printing aimed at collectors who favor distinct visual styles and unique card treatments. The illustration maintains the imposing, angelic mechanical essence of the original creature while repositioning the sphinx within the stylized, experimental visual language characteristic of the Secret Lair product line.
