Where it came from
Count on Luck was released in 2024 as part of the Magic: The Gathering Foundations Commander set. This set was designed to be an accessible entry point for new players while providing evergreen staples for established Commander decks, drawing from the game's long history of card mechanics and thematic archetypes.
The card features artwork by illustrator Anna Christenson, who employs a whimsical, vibrant style to capture the chaotic and unpredictable nature of luck-based gameplay. The design centers on the classic red-aligned philosophy of taking risks for high rewards, and it has been received by the community as a lighthearted inclusion that prioritizes fun and variance in casual social formats.
