Where it came from
Court of Grace was originally released in the Commander Legends set in 2020, serving as a powerful enchantment that introduced the monarch mechanic to the format. The card was designed to incentivize multiplayer engagement by rewarding the controller with a white angel token and card draw, provided they maintain the status of the monarch. Its inclusion in the Secret Lair Drop series, specifically as card number 2685, reflects Wizards of the Coast's practice of reprinting popular staples with unique, stylistic artistic treatments to appeal to both collectors and players.
This particular printing features artwork by artist Livia Prima, who utilized a distinct, ornate aesthetic that departs from the standard fantasy illustration style of the original printing. The design emphasizes the regal and ethereal nature of the card's theme, focusing on celestial motifs and elegant linework. Within the Magic: The Gathering community, the card is widely recognized for its high utility in Commander decks, and the Secret Lair variant is sought after by enthusiasts looking to elevate the visual presentation of their decks.
